BAPA is organizing a mass rally on environmental and climate issues affecting Bangladesh. The first of its kind for BAPA, this grand event will be held at the Central Shaheed Minar premises of Dhaka from 10 AM till 4 PM on January 13, Saturday. The objective of this rally is to foster solidarity between the activists and the affected mobilizing them in protest of the indiscriminate exploitation and extraction of the forests, rivers and the natural environment of Bangladesh in the name of infrastructure and economic development insensitive to the people and ecosystem of the country. A leaflet for the rally is posted on the BEN website. BAPA has reached out to other environmental organizations in the country, the civil society leaders, public representatives and youth organizations soliciting solidarity to the event and support to their demands. BAPA chapters in various parts of the country, especially those with burning environmental issues, are holding preparatory meetings and rallies to motivate the vulnerable people and the local activists to join the Dhaka rally. Local BAPA leaders are organizing divisional conferences ahead of the Dhaka rally.
The program of the rally includes speeches by local activists and vulnerable people, BAPA and BEN leaders, and leaders from other environmental and social organizations. The rally will present a call for action in the form of a formal Declaration. There will be cultural shows and environmentally relevant street acts. The day’s events will conclude with a parade of environmentally aware youth and a mass procession. The daylong BAPA-BEN special conference on the Rivers, Haors and Beels of Bangladesh will follow the next day, January 14, 2023, Saturday at the Science Annex of the Dhaka University.
BEN Global Coordinator, Md. Khalequazzaman is visiting Bangladesh starting December to help BAPA efforts in the preparation of the rally. BEN founder Nazrul Islam joined him in early January. Khaleq attended BAPA divisional conventions in Khulna, and Barisal held on December 30, 2022 and December 31, 2022. Nazrul attended the Chattogram divisional convention on January 8, 2023. BAPA earlier held a divisional convention in Rangpur on December 23, 2022. Conventions for the Sylhet and Rajshahi division were held on the seventh of January. Mymensingh divisional convention was held on January 9. BEN GC Md. Khalequzzaman also attended the divisional convention in Sylhet on Jan 7 and in Mymensingh on January 9.

খুলনা বিভাগঃ ৩০ ডিসেম্বর ২০২২, খুলনা বিভাগীয় কৃষি ও পরিবেশ সংলাপ। স্থান হুমায়ুন কবির বালু মিলনায়তন খুলনা প্রেস ক্লাব। এতে সম্মানিত অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন বাপার নির্বাহী সদস্য ও বেন-এর বৈশ্বিক সমন্বয়কারী অধ্যাপক ড. মোঃ খালেকুজ্জামান, বাপার সাধারন সম্পাদক জনাব শরীফ জামিল, বাপা খুলনার আঞ্চলিক শাখার সমন্বয়ক ড. বাবুল হাওলাদার। অনুষ্ঠান সঞ্চালনা করেন বাপা মংলা শাখার আহবায়ক মোঃ নূর আলম শেখ। অন্যান্যদের মধ্যে বক্তব্য রাখেন বাপা যশোর শাখার সদস্য সচিব অধ্যাপক আবু সাইদসহ খুলনা বিভাগের অন্যান্য নেতৃবৃন্দ।
