Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) and Bangladesh Environment Network (BEN) will hold a special conference on “Haors, Rivers and Beels of Bangladesh.” The daylong conference will be held in Dhaka at the Science Annex Building of Dhaka University on February 14, 2023.

The main objectives of the conference, as described in the conference proposal are described below:
1) Provide a forum for resident, non-resident, and foreign experts and activists to have a collective discussion on the status of the haors, rivers, and beels, including domestic, transboundary, and global factors affected them.2) Provide an opportunity for the government officials to present their view of the status of the haors, rivers, and beels of the country and to inform the members of the environment movement and the citizens of the country about the plans, projects, and other activities they are carrying out currently and plan to carry out in the future about the rivers and the ecosystems.
3) Provide a forum for BAPA activists and leaders engaged in the struggle for protecting the haors, rivers, and beels to present their experience and express their views about ways to intensify the struggle and achieve more success in the future.
4) Provide a forum for representatives of various cross-sections of the society to express their views regarding the situation of haors, rivers, and beels and offer their suggestions about what could be done to improve the situation.
