BEN ENVIRONMENT NEWSLETTER, Year 18, No. 11 (November, 2021)

Bangladesh Environment Network (BEN) had a busy November. Towards the beginning of the month, the organization announced the annual BAPA-BEN conference. The Feb 10-11, 2022 virtual conference focuses on the energy policy of Bangladesh and related issues. One other area where BEN put substantial efforts during the last month is the Teesta River. BEN experts contributed opinion pieces on the issue to reputed Dhaka dailies, which are reprinted in this newsletter with the permission of the authors. BEN’s monthly Sunday adda for November was dedicated to an online dialogue on the management of the River Teesta. Ten experts, activists, and national and local leaders discussed the environmental and economic consequences of the Teesta River Comprehensive Management Project for three hours. This issue of the newsletter covers a summer 2021 environmental lecture series where Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA) played a key role. It also includes a follow-up piece on our previous issue’s commentary on the sixth-assessment report (AR6) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
